This item is a pretty silver christening set consisting of a spoon and fork both housed in a lined box. From the hallmarks we have been able to find that the Assay Office was Sheffield, the maker John Round & Son Ltd. and the dates are c.1925 (Fork) and c.1927 (Spoon).
Considering their age and use both pieces are in very good condition. There are some tiny dints and faint scratches to the metal surface in places (most noticeably to the bowl of the spoon) and one tine of the fork is slightly bent out of shape at the tip. Although the set is boxed and they appear to fit well in their indentations we couldn't guarantee that the box is their original one. The box itself is in good overall condition and snaps closed securely, the outer is scuffed a little in places and as can be seen the white satin strips that cover the hinges are torn.
The spoon measures approx. 6" in length and weighs approx. 28g.
The fork also measures approx. 6" in length and weighs approx. 26g.
The box measures approx. 7.5" x 3.25" x 1" and weighs (with the cutlery in place) 185g.
