This pretty clear glass Oil Lamp is supported on a brass column sitting on a Jackfield style plinth to the base which has the makers mark for ‘Veritas Lamp Works’ impressed underneath. The font is clear cut glass and the shade (not original) is a floral decorated and fluted glass with a dark green edge. It is difficult to age the lamp accurately but from research we believe it to be c.1920's in date as this is when the Veritas trademark was made available to oil lamp manufacturers Falk, Stadelman and Co. The lamp has a double burner with wick winders marked BRITISH MADE.
The lamp measures approx. 22.5" / 57.1 cm in height (including the chimney), 8" / 20 cm in diameter (the top of the shade) and weighs 2.8kg
The edge of the gallery has a split and there are a number of small splits to the brass at the neck of the stand (see photos)
