This pair of elegantly shaped silver salts feature decorative fluted edges and each stand on three shapely legs which each finish in a hoof like foot. They both measure approx. 1.75" in height and 3" in diameter and together weigh 166g. They are both in rather good condition considering their age and use, there are a few faint abrasions to the surface in places and a few small dints the most noticeable can be seen in photo 9. It looks like the interior of both may have been gilded but this has worn, more so on one that the other (please see close up of photos for detail)
The hallmark is for London, possibly c.1872 or 1874 (The date letters are difficult to read on both) and shows the makers mark of a G and A both in adjoining circles which we believe would denote that it was made by George Aldwinckle.
